Since we rarely get ice and snow in the Dallas area, when we do, it becomes a top news story on every local channel. You can turn on your TV and be guaranteed to have full coverage of what the roads are like, what schools and businesses are closing, etc.
I was so thrilled this year to see the “Texas Storm Chasers” on the actual roads with cameras and fairly hilarious commentaries. It gave me more confidence as to when to attempt to head into the office; however, I never heard the station I watched mention “This update is sponsored by _”.
I feel that was a missed opportunity.
What better way for a Jeep dealership to brag again that they are the award winning “2014 Official Winter Vehicle” than to sponsor a storm chaser morning update from 6am to 9:30am?
