Miller Ad Agency celebrates 40 years of successful advertising and creative achievements

Longevity Matters

Usually when we talk about longevity here at the agency, we focus on our client relationships. And certainly, that has a lot of validity. Building trust takes time, and it is a testament to our employees that our clients trust them to do the best thing for their business, even when times are hard. But this blog is not about that. This past week I was fortunate enough to host the Miller Ad Agency annual Christmas party at my home along with my husband and CEO, Erik Radle. We have been having these parties at our home for the past six or seven years now as we find it makes it much easier for our employees and their significant others to truly relax and mingle with everyone. We get some yummy Mexican food catered, and we do a spirited and always hilarious round of White Elephant gifts (this year’s personal favorite was a sort of handmade toilet seat covered with a bath mat? I may dictate all gifts have to be handmade from now on. Previous standouts include anything that represents our ever grouchy but always kind Vice President who has been at Miller since its inception in 1984).

I always enjoy these gatherings but this year, I truly felt blessed. As the party wound down, I saw different small groups taking selfies with each other, and I couldn’t help but smile and be so grateful. Why? Because these people truly care about each other. Some of them have known each other and been friends through our agency for close to 20 years. Some only a few years but they have become close friends both in and out of the office. (A few along the way have even gotten married!) Many truly feel like family to me. I have known my Vice President since I was 10 years old, and sadly, that means, around 40 years for me. Others I have known for almost 30 years. Our art department alone boasts over 50 years combined experience at Miller.

What a gift. What a blessing to have not just clients trust us, but to have employees trust their entire career to us. For them to know that we will do everything we can to support them and our clients. And we don’t take that trust lightly. Sometimes it keeps us up at night, worrying about how we will generate enough business and keep costs low while also recognizing all the hours and dedication that our employees bring to the table. But hearing their laughter, and watching them take those pictures year after year, it reminded me that we are so very lucky, to have them, and to have the clients that keep this business thriving and these people, right where they belong – here at Miller. And hey, since this is an ad blog, I have to throw in here that if you are looking for a great place to work or a great agency to do business with, keep us in mind. That kind of longevity in a marketplace full of turnover means something. Call us and find out what makes us different.
